What is Tittersalls?
Tittersalls began when a group of nine single women met to investigate how and where to meet interesting, eligible, single men. It soon became very apparent that this agenda was a little narrow…some women considering that there was no such animal as an interesting, eligible, single man and that women would be better to socialise, have fun, network and support each other, as only women can.
It was also decided that women are fascinating, interesting and fun-loving , no matter their relationship status…so the forum was opened to everyone of the female gender.
The group met monthly with somewhere between 6 and 15 turning up on the third Wedneys night of each month. The night has always been filled with laughter and mirth and ended with some women going home after the meeting, with others partying on into the night.
After several meetings, the group decided that a name was in order. This was around the time when Tattersalls, the exclusive men's club was voting whether to accept women as full members. When Tattersalls' male members, rejected accepting women as members….the name "Tittersalls" was born! At the same time, we included our motto of "Tittersalls, keeping abreast of things."
Our membership is continuing to grow. It is exciting that the email list now includes over 100 addresses of women from all walks of life. Tittersalls now has a committee of volunteers who are prepared to give up their time to ensure that the club goes from strength to strength and most months, a female speaker volunteers her time and expertise to educate members on topics as varied as Feng Shui to sex therapy.
It is an exciting time for Tittersalls as women are realising that as a group, they can exert influence in many walks of life. We are not about man hating…..we are about empowering and supporting each other, enjoying life and each other and celebrating being women!
